Visiting Our Houston Showroom — What to Expect

If you have been researching our collections online and wondering what it would feel like to walk through the door at 3226 Hillcroft Street, this post is for you. Think of it as a friendly preview from someone who knows every corner of the space — so your first visit feels less like a cold appointment and more like returning somewhere familiar.

Our Houston luxury furniture showroom is where three generations of Ankara craftsmanship meet the families who will live with these pieces for decades. There is no high-pressure sales floor here, no numbered tags dangling from price guns. What you will find is a carefully composed series of room settings, each one built to help you imagine how a piece will feel inside your own home.

Before You Arrive — Hours and Location

We are located at 3226 Hillcroft Street, Houston TX 77057, in the Westheimer corridor between the Galleria and Gulfton. The showroom is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday appointments are available by request.

Street parking runs along both sides of Hillcroft, and there is a dedicated lot directly behind the building — turn right at the first driveway south of our entrance. If you are coming from the 610 Loop, take the Westheimer exit and head west; Hillcroft is approximately ten minutes from the interchange. Traffic on Westheimer during midday is lighter than evenings, so a Tuesday or Wednesday morning visit tends to be the most relaxed pace for a first look.

If you would like dedicated time with our design team rather than an open browse, we encourage you to book a design appointment in advance. Walk-ins are always welcome, but a reserved slot means undivided attention from the moment you step in.

The Moment You Walk Through the Door

The first thing most visitors notice is the scale. We do not display single pieces against bare walls. Instead, every collection is presented as a complete room — sofa with its companion chairs, dining table set with the matching buffet and mirror, bedroom suite dressed exactly as it would appear in your home. This is intentional. Furniture at this level earns its full meaning when it speaks with the other pieces around it.

You will be greeted by a member of our team — not by a commission-driven salesperson running through a script, but by someone who genuinely knows the collections and can answer questions like "Was the capitone work on the Huma sofa done entirely by hand?" (It was. Every button on every backrest is individually set by the same artisans in our Ankara workshop who have done this work for decades.)

There is no obligation to buy, no pressure to decide on that visit. Many of our customers come two or three times before they place an order — once to feel the pieces, once to bring a family member, once to narrow down a finish. That is exactly how it should be. A piece of heirloom-quality furniture deserves considered selection.

How the Showroom Is Laid Out

The space flows across two connected rooms, organized loosely by category but more by mood. As you move through, you will pass through:

  • The Living Room Gallery: Our largest section, showing four to six sofa families in full setting. You will see the Huma collection — our signature capitone-carved backrest sofa — alongside carved-frame seating families at varying scales. This is the room where most customers slow down the longest.
  • The Dining Hall: Handcrafted dining tables in both rectangular and oval formats, surrounded by matching carved dining chairs. If you have ever wondered how a palatial dining table looks at actual scale in a room — rather than in a product photo against a white background — this section answers that question immediately.
  • The Bedroom Suite: Two complete bedroom settings, including carved poster beds, dresser arrangements with gilded mirrors, and nightstand pairings. Seeing a full bedroom suite in person is often what converts customers who were uncertain about scale.
  • The Accent and Occasional Corner: Console tables, carved armchairs, occasional tables, and accent pieces that work as companions to larger collections or as statement items on their own.

How to Feel the Craftsmanship

This is the part that photographs simply cannot communicate. We encourage every visitor to touch the pieces — to run a hand along the backrest of a sofa and feel the depth of the carved frame, to press lightly against capitone upholstery and notice how each individual tuft holds its shape, to open a drawer on a sideboard and feel how it moves.

Here is what to look for specifically:

  • The frame: Our frames are built from beech and hornbeam hardwood — both known for structural density. Press on the arm of any sofa. There is no flex, no creak. That is what a solid hardwood frame feels like versus a softwood or engineered wood substitute.
  • The carved surfaces: Run a finger along the carved leg of any dining chair or occasional table. The ridges are clean and precise. This is hand-carving from our Ankara workshop, not machined replication. You can feel where the tool turned and where the grain of the wood directed the carving.
  • The finish: Our pieces receive multiple coats of hand-applied lacquer, buffed between each layer. The surface should feel smooth and slightly warm — not cold and plastic-like. Hold your hand against a polished frame for a moment and notice the quality of that warmth.
  • The joinery: Pull open any drawer in the showroom. The slide should be smooth and the corners should show tight, precise joinery. We use traditional dovetail and mortise construction throughout our case goods — the same methods our workshop has used since our founding in 1972.

These are the details our craftsmen in Ankara have spent their careers perfecting. Feeling them in person is a completely different experience from seeing them in photography, and it is the most reliable way to understand why these pieces hold their value across generations.

The Consultation — What Happens During Your Visit

Whether you walk in or book ahead, a design consultation at our showroom is a conversation — not a presentation. Come with photos of your room if you have them (a phone photo works perfectly), and come with questions, however basic they might feel. We have heard every question and there are no uninformed ones.

Our team will help you think through:

  • Scale and proportion — which sofa size works for your room dimensions, whether a round or rectangular dining table suits your layout, how a poster bed relates to ceiling height
  • Finish selection — we carry a range of wood finishes from ivory lacquer to deep walnut stain to ebonized hardwood; seeing them in person against natural light is far more reliable than a screen
  • Upholstery — our fabric and leather swatch books are available in-showroom, and our team can walk you through which weight and texture holds up best for different usage patterns
  • Room cohesion — if you are furnishing more than one room, or want living and dining pieces that speak to each other, we can walk you through how our families are designed to relate

For customers who are planning a complete room — or something larger — we also offer custom commission discovery at no obligation. This is where the conversation becomes genuinely different from what any other furniture showroom offers. To read how that process works, visit our guide to Houston luxury furniture or ask our team directly during your visit.

Fabric and Finish Swatches — What to Expect

Our upholstery program runs across several hundred fabric options organized by weight, weave, and color family. The in-showroom swatch books are organized to make selection manageable rather than overwhelming. Our team will pull relevant options based on your room's light conditions and the way the space is used.

For finishes, the showroom floor itself is the best sample library we have. Each collection is displayed in its primary finish, and we have additional finish samples available for alternatives. If you are considering an ebonized frame paired with ivory velvet, we can show you that combination in person — a conversation that would take four back-and-forth emails to approximate online.

Custom upholstery requests — a specific fabric, a COM (customer's own material), or a non-standard colorway — are handled through our Ankara workshop on a per-order basis. Our team will give you an honest timeline during your consultation.

Custom Commission Discovery

One of the things our customers discover during showroom visits — often to their surprise — is that our work extends far beyond furniture. Our Ankara workshop has the capacity to produce wall paneling, interior doors, walk-in closet cabinetry, and kitchen furniture-grade built-ins in full coordination with the furniture pieces in any given room.

If you have ever wanted a dining room where the wall treatment, the buffet, and the dining table all speak the same design language — not because you assembled pieces from multiple sources, but because they were designed and built together — this is the conversation to have. Bring inspiration photos, a floor plan if you have one, and an open mind. Our team will tell you honestly what is feasible, what the timeline looks like, and what the investment range would be before you make any commitment.

After Your Visit — Next Steps

After a showroom visit, there is no obligation to do anything immediately. Most customers take a day or two to sit with what they saw, revisit photos they took in the showroom, and talk it over with their household. That is exactly right.

When you are ready to move forward, the path is straightforward:

  1. Select your pieces and configuration — our team will prepare a formal quote with finish, fabric, and delivery specifications.
  2. Review financing options — we offer 12-month 0% financing through Synchrony for qualifying orders, which makes it possible to furnish a full room without compressing the decision.
  3. Confirm your order — your pieces go into production in our Ankara workshop. Lead times vary by collection and current workshop schedule; our team will give you an accurate estimate at the time of order.
  4. White glove delivery — we coordinate delivery and in-home placement across the continental United States, including rooms outside Texas. Every piece is inspected before it leaves our hands.

For any questions between visits — about availability, lead times, or financing — our team is reachable directly. See our contact page for current hours and the fastest way to reach us.

Can't Visit in Person? The FaceTime Tour

Roughly half of our customers are outside Texas — in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and beyond. For families who cannot visit the Houston showroom in person, we offer a personal FaceTime tour of the showroom floor. This is not a recorded walkthrough; it is a live call where our team walks you through the specific pieces you are considering, holds fabrics up to natural light, opens drawers on case goods, and answers your questions in real time.

Many of our best long-distance relationships started with a FaceTime call and ended with a white glove delivery to a home we had never physically entered. If that kind of high-touch, personal service is what you are looking for, book a free FaceTime consultation and we will arrange a time that works around your schedule.

Whether you come to Hillcroft Street in person or join us on a call from across the country, the experience is the same: a genuine conversation about your home, your taste, and what it would mean to live with furniture that was handcrafted in our Ankara workshop since 1972 — built to become part of your family for generations.

Your home, your palace. We look forward to meeting you.
